A high-achieving woman of color who has carried a lot — and is finally ready to put yourself in the equation
Done waiting for things to calm down, for the kids to get older, or for the "right time" — because you know that time isn't coming on its own
Ready to do real, structured work — not looking for a quick fix, a hack, or someone to just tell you to rest more
Someone who doesn't want to be managed through this — you want to actually recover and feel like yourself again
Tired of being the one who holds everything together for everyone else, and ready to finally have a place where you get to be held
Ready to invest in yourself the same way you've invested in everything and everyone else — and done putting yourself last on the list
yep, this is for me
I'm a licensed therapist and maternal wellness coach with over 15 years of experience supporting women of color through healing, identity shifts, and some of life's hardest transitions.
I know what it's like to be the one who holds everything together, and quietly fall apart on the inside.
It wasn't until I became a mother that I experienced firsthand how depletion takes hold — physically, emotionally, and mentally — and how little of the support out there actually addresses what's really going on.
Because most support teaches you how to cope. How to manage. How to push through more gracefully. But it doesn't rebuild what's been depleted. And you cannot think, breathe, or self-care your way out of depletion. You have to restore it first.
That's why I created Rooted — a structured, body-led approach that starts where everyone else skips: your body.
So you're not stuck managing the same patterns on an empty tank, but actually building the capacity to feel good in the life you've worked so damn hard for.

Here's what changes
You make it to 6pm without hitting a wall — and you have something left for yourself at the end of the day to actually have a real me-time
Your kid spills something, your partner says the wrong thing — and you don't spiral. You handle it and move on
You actually wind down at night — no more lying in bed exhausted but unable to turn your brain off; that tired-and-wired cycle
You catch yourself laughing, making plans, wanting things again, feeling like you — and realizing you've been so depleted you forgot what that felt like
You wake up without that immediate sense of dread — and you actually have energy before your first cup of coffee
my approach
Most women piece this together on their own — seeing different providers, trying different approaches, never getting the full picture. This brings it all together in one place.
Six months of structured, personalized support so you can stop piecing it together alone and finally address depletion at the root.
this is where we do the work
That’s what I’m here for.
But here's what your high-functioning self needs to hear:
Continuing to push through is not the same as being okay.
You've been managing. You've been functioning. But managing and functioning are not the same as thriving. And you're not meant to just survive and get through it.
Depletion doesn't resolve on its own. It resolves when you finally give your body and system what they actually need.
This work gives you a place to do that.
So you can stop just getting through your life — and actually enjoy the one you've worked so damn hard to build.
You don’t need to have everything figured out before starting.

ready to do this together?
Imagine getting through your week without running on empty. Showing up at work without counting down to bedtime. Having energy for yourself, not just everyone and everything else. Feeling like the woman you were before depletion took over.

I hear this more than anything else, and I get it. $4,000 is a real investment. But here's what I want you to consider: continuing to push through depletion is already costing you — in your health, your energy, your relationships, your work, and your joy. You're already paying. Just not in a way that's getting you anywhere.
Payment plans are available to make this more accessible. And what you're investing in isn't a program you'll forget about in six months — it's six months of deep, personalized support that rebuilds the foundation everything else in your life runs on. The sooner you start, the sooner you feel the difference. And that ripples into every part of your life.
some faqs before we get started
Because those things work — but not if your body is still running on empty. You can't think your way out of depletion. You can't breathe your way past a nervous system that's starved for rest. And you can't reclaim yourself when your biology is still in survival mode.
Here's the truth: most providers skip repletion entirely. They go straight to regulation, mindset, or identity work on a body that doesn't have the capacity to hold any of it. That's why nothing has stuck. Not because you didn't try hard enough. Because no one started where the problem actually lives.
In Rooted, we start there. Every tool, every practice, every breakthrough is built on a body that's been resourced first — so the work actually holds. For the long haul.
Great question — it's coaching. I'm a licensed therapist, and that clinical background informs everything about how I work. But Rooted is offered as a coaching program, which means we're focused on restoration, recovery, and forward movement — not processing trauma or treating a mental health diagnosis.
If you're in Massachusetts or Texas and want to use insurance, I suggest exploring my therapy offers instead where I can provide superbills for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Rooted is not covered by insurance.
Yes — and for many women, Rooted actually deepens the therapy work they're already doing. Here's why: if your body is depleted, your therapy sessions are often happening on an empty tank. You're doing the emotional and identity work without the physical foundation to hold it. Rooted addresses the layer underneath — so when you show up to therapy, you actually have the capacity to go deeper.
That said, I always recommend letting your therapist know you're doing additional support work. Coordination between providers is always in your best interest.
Every session is built around where you are right now — not a fixed curriculum. We start by checking in on what's shifted since we last spoke, what your body and system are telling you, and what needs attention most. From there we work through whatever is most relevant to your current phase — whether that's your repletion plan, nervous system tools, or reclamation work.
Sessions are 60 minutes, biweekly, and held virtually. Between sessions you have text support for real-time guidance when life actually happens — because depletion doesn't wait for your next appointment.
Because therapy, even great therapy, wasn't designed to address depletion at the body level. Your therapist is likely doing important work with you — on your patterns, your relationships, your mindset. But if your nervous system is dysregulated and your body is running on empty, there's a ceiling to how far that work can take you.
Rooted works on the layer that therapy typically doesn't touch — your physical baseline, your body's capacity, and the physiological roots of depletion. It's not a replacement for therapy. It's the missing piece that makes everything else work better.
Absolutely. You can send an email to me directly at vanessa@matrescenceincolor.com or DM me on Instagram @matrescenceincolor and I’ll help you figure out if this is the right fit for you. And that's what the free 60-min consultation is for too; so you can ask all the questions you have. You can click here to book a consultation. Zero pressure, just real support.
Yes, you can. If you're still in your first year, you're in what I call the acute stage — sleep deprivation, hormonal upheaval, and the identity shock of becoming a mother are still front and center. In that stage, most postpartum moms need triage-level support and small, doable tools — not the full depth of reclamation work we do here.
We can still work together in your first 1-2 years postpartum, but the support will be specific to the season of recovery you're in.
You'll notice it in your everyday life before you even notice it in your head. You'll wake up and not immediately dread the day. You'll go from 0 to 100 less. You'll have something left at the end of the day. You'll catch yourself doing something just for you and not feeling guilty about it. You'll have a moment where you think "I feel like myself again" — and mean it.
We also use a simple daily tracking practice so you have concrete, visible data on how you're shifting over time. The work is layered so each stage builds on the last: repletion leads to regulation, regulation leads to reclamation.
Not at all. The framework is designed to build capacity gradually; starting with the simplest, most nourishing shifts so your body feels safer and more resourced before we touch the deeper emotional or identity layers.
This is not a "push harder" program. It's a steady unwinding of survival mode, at a pace that fits your real life, not an idealized version of it.
Here's the thing — motherhood isn't going to magically get less demanding. And the longer depletion goes unaddressed, the deeper those patterns get wired into your body — making them harder and often more expensive to unwind later.
There will always be a reason to wait. But waiting is not neutral. Every month you spend pushing through is a month of your life you don't get back.
You can invest now in rebuilding your energy, your capacity, and your joy. Or you can keep paying the hidden costs in exhaustion, resentment, and a life that never quite feels like yours. The sooner you start, the sooner everything shifts.
